Update times!

I’m slowly and surely getting used to life here at the convent in Missouri. ☺ (Weeellll…. Confession time: NOT quite used to the early mornings yet. I have a lovely collection of bruises due to my incoordination in the morning. My shin seems to be the first thing to greet the doorway in the morning.)
Over the last few days the three of us new postulants, have just been settling in, saying good-bye to our families and unpacking (and re-arranging the unpacked things).
We really started in on orientation on Monday. We learned some of the practical “ins and outs” to convent living. Then we went on a VERRRYY detailed tour of the convent with our formator, Sr. Rebecca Marie. Yesterday was slightly overwhelming to say the least.
HOWEVER, It was Sr. Rebecca’s birthday on Monday... And boy do nuns (and nuns-in-training!) really know how to party! LOL. It was the postulant’s day to cook, so we made all of Sister Rebecca’s favorite foods… I even made my very first Pecan Pie! We decorated the room with sparkly lights and sliver and blue…. It was very “Starry Night” inspired. After we partied for a while, some of us took the party down stairs to the postulant study, where we played Mexican Train and Dominoes. But the story doesn’t end there…no. It just so happened that the last of us out of the study we’re the three of us first-year postulants. On our detailed tour earlier that day, we were told that the last person who leaves the study for the night, checks the doors and lights to make sure everything’s off and locked…there was also mentioned something about a burglar alarm….but we didn’t really pay much attention…so anywhooo… As we were leaving, we checked the far door, then we opened the door to the garage to check the light in the garage. Boy we’re we in for a surprise! All sorts of beeping noises came from the far corners of the house! …..we had tripped the burglar alarm. Oops! Thankfully Sr. Rebebcca came to our rescue and reset the alarm. What a way to start the week and end the day!

I’ll be updating periodically… Hopefully I’ll be on once or twice a week! Until then, keep us in your prayers, and PLEASE be assured of mine for you!
